Papua New Guinea coffee
1300–1900 m · picked April to September · Arabica
Most coffee is garden coffee: a few dozen trees behind a village house in the highlands, picked by the family and sold as cherry or parchment. A handful of plantations dating from the 1950s make up the rest.

In the cup: Fruity, winey, full-bodied, with a tropical sweetness.
Next to Indian coffee: Heavier and wilder than an Indian washed, with more fruit. Rarely seen in India, but Australian roasters love it, so it turns up in cafés run by returnees.
