Smallholders on the eastern slopes of the Andes, many certified organic because they never could afford inputs anyway. Quality has climbed quickly since Cup of Excellence arrived in 2017.

In the cup: Mild, sweet, nutty with gentle citrus. Good Cajamarca lots show stone fruit.
Next to Indian coffee: Similar in weight to a Wayanad washed, with softer, sweeter acidity. Often the cheapest decent import, so it turns up in blends.
