A thousand hills of Bourbon trees, most planted by the colonial administration and now farmed by families with a few hundred trees each. The washing stations built since the early 2000s turned a low-grade export into one of Africa's cleanest specialty origins.

In the cup: Red apple, orange, black tea and a syrupy sweetness. Lighter and softer than Kenya.
Next to Indian coffee: Close to a good Coorg washed in body, with more fruit and a cleaner finish. A gentle way into African coffee if Kenya is too sharp.
